Deep in my DNA, I carry the memory of tactile interactions with basic materials. This memory informs the movement of my hands as I work. With the ancient bodies of the trees that give us shelter and fire, I carve the vessels and creatures of ancient dreams. Leather becomes a double-skin: the shoes, clothing, bags, and drums that encase our bodies and minds in fine craftwork. With clay, I continue my lifelong interest in archaeology. I grew up in a region with deep Celtic roots. There, I spent my summers helping on archaeological digs. My ceramic work is inspired by ancient, raw Celtic pottery. When my hands touch soil, clay, and water I pay homage to my ancestors, reminding myself where I came from and who I will become.
