The wide range painting media allow me to embrace the versatility of each technique, pushing them beyond their limitations. Pastel on velour paper is irresistible for its soft yet unforgiving nature, insisting on gestures that are final the second they are made. Oil, classic and complex, demands respect. When I need a quick painting fix, acrylic is the answer. When I embrace encaustic, it embraces me back—I submerge into the slow, absorbing dance of wax and torches. Mixed media pieces are a different joy, each arising spontaneously as instinct-driven experiments.

TALIYEKATAPELTA
Native American story in oral tradition of Salinan tribe.
Falcon and Raven heard about the two headed Taliyekatapelta who ate People. The two-headed serpent ambushed them and began to chase Falcon and Raven. They flew away with the serpent close behind, much more powerful than they had expected. They arrived at Morro Rock as the monster was winding himself around it. Falcon and Raven landed on the top and when serpent approached them, Falcon jumped and grabbed his “cha’hal” and killed Taliyekatapelta cutting him into four pieces.
